Yeah that was the problem in 2nd, if you got really lucky, and the dragon was hurt and really unlucky you could turn that nasty dragon into a slug.... then keep him safe in your can of lucky salt. Of course the Drain on a spell like that started out at Serious.

Drain has also been revamped (along with Damage altogether). Used to be weapons/spells had damage codes (like 4S2 or 2D4) that were very difficult and time-consuming to figure out (Much like the never missed tHAC0). They've now made it simple. Now each weapon/spell has a number and a letter (either P for Physical or S for Stun). The number is the base number of "boxes" of damage it can do, which can be modified by 1) How well/bad you hit it and 2) Armor of the target. All in all, much better than it used to be.
