Well, I finally broke down and bought the Star Wars Saga Edition rulebook. Reading it over, I can see that the Saga Edition was the Star Wars version of D&D 4.0 in many ways. For the most part, I like the system, but the one thing that I have reservations about is the skill system. How to use the skills is no problem, but the way you advance skills seems a little odd. It seems that skills are an "all or nothing" sort of thing. If you select a skill.. it is considered as "trained". This allows you to add +5 to a skill roll (at Level 1). Now the problem is that when you advance a level ALL of your skills advance.... even if you never used the skill.... you advance it. This just doesn't seem right to me.. Has anybody played D&D 4.0? I believe that this is the same rule system used in it. Does it work well? Just wondering...
