Okay, for the M&M game, I'm thinking about a stretch character (Plastic Man, Mr. Fantastic, etc.) and I've got the concept and everything pretty down pat.
The main thing that's kinda bugging me is the idea of grappling. As far as I can tell in the rules, the Elasticity power grants no bonus to grapple checks, which I think it should. Anyone that's seen Fantastic Four, or has read any comics regarding Plastic Man, FF or even Elongated Man, know that this is a key attack of Elastic characters. Right now, I can't seem to access the M&M boards, so I thought I'd raise the issue here. And Simon, please chime in with GM advice as well.

To represent the entangling effects of your malleable body you could buy SNARE, and link it to the Shapeshift ability. Don't forget that the game does not assume that just becasue you can stretch that you automatically a good fighter.
SNARE would add one point per level to the cost of Shapeshift and would also cover the ability to "grapple" with somebody.

Simon hit the nail on the head. The idea behind all the powers is that they give basic effects, and you put together the package you want for the effects you are after. You have to buy the abilities you want. Grappling may be a common ability of stretchy characters, but you can have characters with extendible limbs that aren't necessarily entanglers (like a robotic arm that extends).

The main idea is to put the powers together to make the character unique to you. If not.. every time you go against a "metamorph" you could list their abilities. Kinda makes it boring.

You could also buy the "Improved Grapple" feat as a power stunt (linked to Elasticity). Perhaps also "Improved Trip" and "Improved Disarm".

Another idea is to actually buy the feats as part of the power. Add the feats onto the cost of the power. This also means that the feats go away if the power is shut down. This makes it a little more realistic or at least for the idea that you have these feats because of the power.
