Sunfire's Historical Background Please feel free to "Google" the historical relevance of all information. I took alot of time to ensure the accuratness of the background, including names and datesSêshafi (means 'angry woman') was slinking out in her father's fig tree orchards seeking her secret lover, Ibenré (means 'heart of Re'). Her father, Mdjai (means 'soldier') strictly forbade Sêshafi from meeting with Ibenré because she was already promised to another. While she was nearing their favorite tree, she saw a beautiful blazing bird perched upon a tree stump. Sêshafi snuck closer, unaware that her lover was opposite her, watching the same thing. Mesmerized by the glorious bird, Sêshafi exclaimed out loud about it's beauty, and about the legend of the Phoenix. The Phoenix, startled by her words, annihilated itself, destroying the orchard, and, unfortunately, Ibenré.
Sêshafi woke years later, the orchard field long abandoned and claimed haunted by the villagers witnessing the explosive event. She took years discovering her powers, all previous memories abandoned or repressed by the parastitic invasion of the Phoenix.
She wandered the world, at first trying to fit in and become "normal" like others, who were always either frightened or stunned by her etheral beauty. She went to Pompeii, and began a romantic love affair with Lucius Cornelious Sulla, then the
reigning leader. He was enraptured by her, and she promised faithfulness and a lifetime of love with him. She provided secret
hiding places for his wealth, for which he was grateful, to deter thieves. She secretly flew his riches, along with others as time progressed to the Alps, which became her sanctuary at times.
One day, she came into his chambers to find another beauty perched into his lap. Sêshafi, fueled by animilistic rage, plunged
with the woman out of the window, and began to battle her in the slopes of Pompeii. Sêshafi was suprised by this woman's
ability to fight her as strongly as she could. The battle raged through the night, where frightened villagers reported
seismic activity, worriedly watching the great imposing mountain. Early the next day, as the majestic powerful sun rose over
the sea, Sêshafi laid out her unknown competition. Turning her back to her foe, exhausted, she felt incredible and unexplicable pain. She looked down, realized she was skewered by a snaky-type appendage, and went super-nova on the slopes, causing the catastrophoc ruin of Pompeii.
Sêshafi did not regenerate this time until the Middle Ages, where she went to France. in 1323. The Hundred Year's War was
raging then, so Sêshafi laid low, wandering from Inn to Inn. In 1339, the country was in the grip of the Bubonic Plague.
Sêshafi, unharmed by this, was unnerved by the waste and death around her, and went to Africa. She found the Incas there, and became part of their life. There is a myth, that the sun god Inti ordered Manco Capac and Mama Ocllo to emerge from the
depths of Lake Titicaca and found the city of Cuzco. This was actually Sêshafi.
The Spanish began their Inqusition of the Incas in 1526. Sêshafi was dismayed at yet more death and destruction if her species, and that she was unbreakable, and could not share the same fate. Indeed, she realized that neither time, aging, disease nor strife ever touched her. She loathed herself and vanquished her being once more.
A seemingly depressing pattern continued. She would raise, live with her fellow beings, and then destroy herself out of pity or depression. She could not fit in with these mortals, and did not seem to meet any like her. Wandering constantly, rich and uncaring, she renamed herself Sunfire, abandoning her ancient name.
Her most recent awakening brought her to a much different age. There were more like her, and some not even afraid to show
their superhuman abilities in public! This brightened Sunfire's outlook, and started a more normal life. She lived in Arizona, relishing the almost constant heat and the large expanse of desert, where she better learned to fly, transform, and
manveuver. She went to Thunderbird University (the name always made her secretly smile) where she worked on Global Strategy and researched her own existance. She found a man there, Marcus, who enjoyed her for who she was, and not for what she was, and became very close to him. Three years into their relationship, and months away from graduating, Sunfire became anxious about having someone so near to her heart again, and left without a word. He was not able to track her.
She also became wonderful friends with a girl, AnnaBelle, who broadened her horizons and introduced Sunfire to music and
culture of the modern world. Unfazed by Sunfire's abilities, they sat up lat at night, studying, laughing, and generally hanging out. When she left Marcus, she left without saying goodbye to AnnaBelle.
Sunfire then came to Freedom City, where she lives and feels more accepted.
