Having landed, in relatively one piece, our first order of business is to hide the ship. Using Garrick’s lightsaber, we quickly get some green foliage to spread over the top of the ship. After that we load our equipment onto the landspeeder, including strapping Koyi’s speeder bike to the roof. Loading into the speeder, we follow the maps we were given. A little less than an hour later we pull up at the edge of the woods, looking out at the coastal defense station. It is partially below ground, built into the side of a hill. There are apparently two doors – one on the front of the building (to our north), and another on the left side of the building (to our west).
There are four battle droids on watch outside the main entrance. There is no real cover between us and the building. Tranus suggests going around to the other side of the hill and coming up over the building. Moving over to the other side of the hill, however, reveals four battle droids and a destroyer. After a bit of deliberation, we decide to speed forward in the Arrow-23 landspeeder (which has military grade armor), jump out, and take down the droids. Then there’s getting inside. First things first.
We speed up to near the front double doors, and pile out. It takes but mere moments for us to eliminate three of the four that we can see. The last battle droid is still around the corner. Of course, a few seconds later, the front doors open, and three more battle droids, and a destroyer droid come through. The destroyer lays down a hail of fire, striking Tranus. The destroyer doesn’t last long once D4 turns his attentions towards it. Three very accurate shots reduce the destroyer to so much scrap. The other three battle droids quickly fall. The rest of the group makes their way into the base while Koyi and D4 go around to the side door for the last battle droid outside.
The goup finds four more battle droids inside, and quickly dispatch them, and Koyi makes short work of the last one outside. Checking around, Tranus and Garrick find several human guards wearing the heraldry of the royal family several days dead inside the barracks here. Z5 checks the one computer system only to find it is not networked in any way. Koyi checks the back room, and finds the commander’s office. Moving through the office into the back Koyi finds a rec-room / mess hall. Z5 moves over to another computer system and finds it linked to the bases sensor system, and then moves to third which is a backup system. He deletes a small segment of the logs showing the Black Swan crashing.
Tranus tries the last door in the main control room, and finds it is locked. Z5 opens it up for us, only to find a destroyer droid. Z5 panics and uses the heavy plasma jet on his new mining droid body. The destroyer opens up, hitting Z5 several times, but the minig droid body’s armor plating seems to be standing up better than his astromech body. Unfortunately the computer banks got severely fried by the plasma jet. Z5 examines the computers, but it looks like it may have been a control system. The backup system seems to have recorded a sudden disconnect from the main sensor system. So it is off.
So we send the signal the Naboo are waiting for, and we make ready to leave. We still have to deal with the droids on the other side of the hill. They are easy: we drive by them at full speed, drop a thermal detonator out the window, and drive on as the explosion eliminates the battle droids. Moving on to the mining camp. The facility is located many miles away in a mountainous region. There we need to rescue a loyalist army being held captive by the Trade Federation. About thirty minutes later, Z5 suddenly spots four STAPs coming out of the sun. However, these seem bulkier than the ones we have previously seen. These are probably the aquatically modified versions.
Anyway, they waste little time opening fire on us. The speeder takes some minor damage, as Tranus and D4 open up. Tranus only manages to scratch one’s paint, as D4 blows another out of the sky. Z5 takes over piloting from Koyi as Koyi has a blaster, Z5’mining body doesn’t. The exchange of blaster fire continues, with the speeder taking a rather nasty hit to the side. Tranus manages to take another one out, leaving two more. A couple of pot shots to the speeder later, D4 and Tranus take out the last two. The foothills of the mountains are visible at this point, and another thirty minutes we are in the mountains.
