I thought that I would share my latest project with you kind folks. I am in the process of creating a Chaos army themed around the Poe story, The Masque of the Red Death. I highly recommend the story.. it is very creepy and great at parties... Maybe I'll have to emulate it one year for Halloween. ANYWAY.... I opted to create Lord Rutilus Nex to be a Daemon Prince in my army. In case you were wondering, Rutilus Nex is Latin for Red Death. <hehe.. Me be sneaky ;D> Here are some pictures of the model so far... it is NOT complete and there is a lot of detail work to do... The first pic is an overall shot... You can see the base has numerous zombie and diseased bodies grasping at Lord Nex's cloak. The second pic shows the rather large scythe that he is carrying. The Chaos god, Nurgle (Master of Disease and Decay) is known by the scythe sysmbol... The third pic is another full-body shot. You can see the face a little better in this one. The final pic was taken with a flash so it sorta washed out the colors. You can see the face and the "zombies" on the bottom. I still have touch-up painting to do so as the thread title indicates.. this is a Work in Progress. Any thoughts? Suggestions?

If you can mold an "Man Behind the Iron Mask" kind of mask over his head, and paint it red, I think it would make it REALLY spark.

If you can mold an "Man Behind the Iron Mask" kind of mask over his head, and paint it red, I think it would make it REALLY spark. I was working from the original text of the story.... "The figure was tall and gaunt, and shrouded from head to foot in the habiliments of the grave. The mask which concealed the visage was made so nearly to resemble the countenance of a stiffened corpse that the closest scrutiny must have had difficulty in detecting the cheat. And yet all this might have been endured, if not approved, by the mad revellers around. But the mummer had gone so far as to assume the type of the Red Death. His vesture was dabbled in blood -- and his broad brow, with all the features of the face, was besprinkled with the scarlet horror."

He is pretty awesome. I particularly like the wings and how he appears to be rising from the corpses. The pose is very action-y. The color strikes me as dull though. It could be the camera not showing good shading or just it's WIP status. Also, the left side of his face (looking at him straight on) seems slightly bulky in the chin.
Overall, a really creepy and nice model. A hell of a lot better than I can do.
