I don't know what else to say. Everything I've read, everything I've heard, the Realms are irrevocably changed. They've killed off MOST of the pantheons, merging portfolios into other gods and wiping out most of the history of the realms. For instance, evil dwarves now worship Bane. Most of the demihuman pantheons are gone. There is now only ONE drow goddess, Lolth. And drow are, again, irredeemably evil. The only ones saved from that fate were the ones that worshiped Elistraee, and they were saved when she was killed off so they are "dark elves" (brown skin, black hair). It all feels very insulting to me.

I'm glad you saw this. I saw the book this weekend at Borders and said to Jess "this will royally piss Matt off". But after viewing the horrors of the $4E$ "realms" I realized that the Starwars Knights of the Old Republic Campaign book was out and I got all giddy. I wanna run Starwars now.

Oooooh... I should tell you that I have the Saga and KotOR book coming to me any second now from Amazon. I'm hoping it gets here before I leave Saturday morning. Also, got my Pathfinder Beta book, along with the Campaign Setting and the Monsters Revisited. It says a lot about a RPG company when they win the gold medal (GenCon Ennie Award) for best Monster book and the book has NO statistics in it at all. Just glorious descriptive test. Did I mention it beat Elder Evils for the award?

I read this interview with Bruce Cordell and the destruction of the Realms makes sense now. I mean, they put a guy in charge of the team to 'redesign' the Realms and he's a Psionics/Cthulu/Undead freak. When two of those three things have no real place in the Realms. {sigh}
